The church was established in 1902 when Mr. A.C. Ramsey owner of the Ramsey Ranch deeded the land to the church to be built. Rumors was that Mrs. Ramsey told him if he was going to have ranch hands on the ranch he was going to build a church for them to attend. It was established as DeGraff Presbyterian Church. DeGraff was a railroad community. The railroad ran at the West edge of the community and they had cattle yards there for the ranches to bring their cattle to put them on the trains. It was said there was the largest cattle drive in the country one year when they bought the cattle in. DeGraff had a blacksmith shop, General Store, Lumberyard, cafe, school house, train depot and the church. Unfortunately in the 1940s the train rail was shut down This killed the community of DeGraff. Today the only existing commercial building is the church. The church was a open church from 1902 to 2002 when it decided to close it's doors. The building ownership was transferred to Lincoln Township and it set empty for approx. nine years. In 2011 the church was put up for auction and Chris and Allison Locke purchased the building and donated it back to the church who opened their doors again with the help of the Locke family and others. Larry Womack was their pastor. Since that time the church has been listed with the Kansas Historical Society as a historical site in Kansas. We are proud of DeGraff Community Church history and hope to be established for many years to come with the goal being to bring Glory to our Father in Heaven.
