WHY DO PARENTS HAVE RULES?
Why did our parents have rules? As parents we establish rules for our children to live by to protect them in a world they can get hurt or killed in. That is the purpose of parent's rules is the protection of their children. Think back to when you were a child living at home and your parents had rules for you to live by. We could choose to follow or break their rules. If we followed the rules there was harmony in the home. No discipline, no hurt feelings, no hurt bottoms. Discipline from a parent is to hopefully change the behavior of the child so they could live a safer life. But if you was like me as I was growing up I stepped outside of those rules many times and discipline was never fun. But when I became an adult and had children of my own I realized how much my parents loved me and was willing to sacrifice for me.

Why does God have commandments? Same exact reason parents had rules. These commandments are made to protect us from a evil and dangerous world. Some of this world is spiritual and we can not see the dangers that exist. But God does and his commandments protect us in both a physical and spiritual world. Many times we will break God's commandments and there is discipline, broken harmony with God because of breaking those commands. Sinning is a part of all of our lives. Scriptures say all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. But here is the great news. God does not disown us. God is compassion, merciful and kind. He is patient to wait on us to come back to him. If we ask for forgiveness God will grant it. Then we can live in harmony with God again. Come back to God today. Harmony with God is such a wonderful gift He has for us. Receive it today.
